Community Resilience

Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust has been awarded funding from SSE’s Beatrice Partnership Fund to further develop the Kyle of Sutherland Community Resilience Plan

Building on the successful launch of the Kyle of Sutherland Community Resilience Plan, KoSDT has been awarded funding from SSE’s Beatrice Partnership Fund to install five fixed defibrillators in Invershin, Achany, Migdale, Strathcarron, and Spinningdale and to purchase three mobile defibrillators which will be carried by ‘ghillies’ on our local salmon fishing rivers who have agreed to be registered first responders. In addition to the installation of generator switchovers for community halls. All of which mean the Kyle of Sutherland communities and facilities are more resilient and are well prepared in the event of an emergency in the future.

The funding will also allow us to install five switchover units in the safe community spaces identified in the plan to enable a generator from SSE to connect to the building during a power outage. The switchover generators will be installed in: Ardgay, Bonar Bridge, Invershin, Culrain and Rosehall. This will mean that residents can access warmth, and food in their own communities. The Kyle Chronicle will highlight the Resilience Plan which will allow the Plan to be updated quarterly and it will also ensure that the Resilience Plan reaches all homes in the community.

The Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust in partnership with the Kyle of Sutherland Locality Group, will manage and oversee the installation of both the defibrillators and the generator switchovers.
