I write regularly to UNISON members and recently got a letter back from one, Ian MacNab (aged 92, now living in Dingwall) who told me about Joyce Ursula Douglas: “Your address in Ardgay took me back to the first time I was in the area. It was June 1946, the Geography Class at Edinburgh University did a week’s course every year and in 1946 it was to Carbisdale Castle. There were lots of ex-servicemen. . .
What a sad story it has obviously never been forgotten by the gentleman who felt he needed to tell her story 74 years after the event , next time I’m up in the area will pay a a visit to Creich and Joyce’s stone.
