The Sutherland Adaptive and Collaborative Communities Project

Last year Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust was successful in a funding bid to employ four staff to deliver the Sutherland Community Partnership SACC (Sutherland Adaptative and Collaborative Communities) project which will support fragile communities across Sutherland.

The SACC team (pictured) was finally able to meet up in person for the first time on the 20th May – after nearly 10 months of working together remotely!

The five communities identified as needing immediate support were Brora, Creich, Golspie, Helmsdale, and Kinlochbervie.

One significant development that has been achieved is that the Creich Locality Group has now expanded to become the Kyle of Sutherland Locality Group. This has come about as a result of the communities coming together to work on the Kyle of Sutherland Community Resilience Plan. The Group has agreed to continue this momentum and work together on projects covering both Creich and Ardgay & District community council areas. The next projects will include a Communities day to bring everyone back together and an economic development plan for the Kyle of Sutherland.

The team is also working on Sutherland wide projects. The Sutherland mental health and wellbeing website sutherlandwellbeing.com, has been expanding since it launched in March 2021. Kyle Chronicle readers can find a variety of information on the website using the Map, Resources and Calendar sections. Information flyers will be circulated in June – so if you are not online, please keep an eye out for the flyer in your local community.
