Loch Mhic Mharsaill probably contains the name of a son of William Mareschal, a squire to Hugh of Ross, Lord of Fylorth and brother of William III, Earl of Ross. He was granted by the said Hugh, between 1350 and 1372, the lands of Dachynbeg in Westray (Edderton) for good and faithful. . .
