A B-listed bridge on the lower reaches of the River Shin is in danger of collapsing. Some time ago it was noted that stone had begun to fall from the side of the structure, falling into the river below.
This could potentially cause a huge problem for migrating fish if it were to further deteriorate as it could cut off or make access difficult for both fish migrating upstream and those migrating downstream. This could affect salmon, sea trout, brown trout and eels. The River Shin supports salmon and trout populations not just in the main stem. . .
