Christmas support from KoSDT

Although cases of Covid are still higher than we need them to be, we think there is an opportunity to try and make this a special Christmas. Therefore, KoSDT has put together a programme of seasonal support to try and make Christmas 2021 as good a Christmas for everyone as it possibly can be.

Christmas in the Square

As it has been a particularly challenging and isolating time for many, KoSDT wish to bring a little Christmas cheer into the lives of our residents. Therefore, we will be hosting Christmas in the Square, which will take place on Friday 17th December from 5 – 8pm. The event will held outdoors in Drovers Square in Ardgay (we have also booked Ardgay Hall, in case of bad weather!). We hope that it will help to bring the community together again and reduce the social isolation felt by many at this time of year. We will have carol singers and a piper, a visit from Santa and a free mince pie with mulled wine or hot chocolate for everyone who comes along, and many more surprises. We have also organised free transport to ensure that all parts of the community can come along and enjoy the festive fun.

Christmas Larder

As well as our regular Community Food Larder days we will also be holding a special Christmas themed Larder on Tuesday 21st December (10am – 2pm, booking essential). The Larder will provide all that is needed to make a Christmas Meal Main Course, plus a few extra wee treats.

Christmas Eve Boxes

KoSDT will once again be coordinating the distribution of Christmas Eve Boxes for less fortunate children across Sutherland. The project is led by Aberdeen based charity Abernecessities and funded by the Westminster Foundation. Each box will include new, warm pyjamas, slipper socks, and other items such as Christmas shower gel or bubble bath, an activity, a storybook, a mug or cup, hot chocolate powder (for older children) and a selection box. Every child should be able to go to bed happy on Christmas day.

Mission Christmas Appeal

KoSDT will also be working closely with our friends at Moray Firth Radio Cash for Kids to coordinate applications for their Mission Christmas Appeal. This will support families across Sutherland whose children are at risk of having no Christmas presents to wake up to on Christmas day, every child should have the excitement of seeing something under the tree on Christmas morning.

Christmas Food Hampers

Our existing Food Parcel clients will receive special Christmas food hampers with enough food for a three Course Christmas Meal with a few extra treats to last over the Christmas Holidays!

Christmas Walk and Talk

On Monday 20th December, our regular Walk and Talk session will have a Christmas theme and will be followed by a Christmas lunch at Bonar Bridge & Ardgay Golf Club. Booking is essential as we have limited spaces for this session.
